Your First Visit
During your initial visit to our office, our team of dentists will perform a full dental exam, including an oral cancer screening, evaluation of existing restorations, gum disease evaluation, and tooth surface evaluation to check for decay. If required, the team might recommend preventive care options including but not limited to fluoride treatment, professional breath control, sealants, or periodontal - gum disease - treatments that are designed to help you maintain your dental health. Of course, the best thing you can do for periodontal disease is practice prevention techniques, which includes brushing and flossing daily, along with regular visits to your dentist for dental cleanings and examinations. This very simple element of oral health can help prevent tooth loss, gum disease, and bad breath and also improve your overall health along the way. Whether you are having a biannual checkup or full periodontal therapy, our hygienists will always provide the very best treatment while maintaining your complete comfort.
A sealant is a resin material that binds to the depressions and grooves - pits and fissures - of the chewing surfaces of the teeth. Sealant is applied to teeth to act as a barrier, protecting the enamel from plaque and acids. According to the American Dental Association, over 80% of cavities are caused by pit and fissure decay that sealant can prevent. If the sealant remains intact, the surfaces of your teeth will be protected from decay. Sealants can remain intact and function during normal chewing and usually remain that way several years before a reapplication is needed. During your regular dental visits, we will apply sealants where needed, check the condition of your current sealants i, and reapply them when necessary.
